Dan McGuire is a computer engineer who has taught at UC Santa Cruz, Washington State and UNH Manchester. After retiring, he moved to New Hampshire to “Live Free or Die” and work to improve New Hampshire’s climate of personal freedom. Beyond efficiencies and program cuts, Dan believes it is important to create savings for citizens in other ways such as reducing regulations on business and individuals. For example, he hopes to eliminate costly mandates in energy and health insurance, which will save people a lot of money without costing the state anything.

Dan is the secretary of Epsom’s Fire Auxiliary, Granite State Taxpayers and Merrimack County Republicans, and the former Chairman of Epsom’s Planning Board. He is a former President of the Republican Liberty Caucus of New Hampshire and a life member of the NH Liberty Alliance.  Dan is the secretary of the NH Bridge Association and with his bridge partner, Wayne Burt, was the 2009 State Bridge Champion.

Since moving to New Hampshire in 2005, Dan and Carol have helped fund a dozen different startups, including Rustic Crust in Pittsfield, Nanocomp Technologies in Concord and Murphy’s Taproom in Manchester.
