Harriet Cady

Candidate for State Representative

District: Rockingham 1

Harriet has been a resident of New Hampshire since 1958, and she and her husband Chester and four children and six grandchildren. She served in the legislature from 2002-2006, choosing not to seek re-election in order to take a Town Administrators job.  She has also served in Raymond and then Deerfield on the Budget Committee, Zoning Board of Adjustment, and several committees and commissions. Through the years, she has worked for the NH Department of Transportation, as an appraiser of Right of Ways, and as a line worker at Sylvania, among others.

Since 1972, Harriet has owned Cady Country Realty and most recently as a consultant in Tax Abatement’s and on zoning and some small criminal cases. She has been a member of the Board of the NH Center for Constitutional Studies and presently serve as an adviser.

She has always loved history, and served in 1984 in the NH Constitutional Convention where we passed the Article 28-a which stated no more laws passing costs to the towns.  That came about through Mel Thomson who was Governor at the time and much publicity.

Harriet has also proudly worked on many campaigns—the most memorable was with Ronald Reagan at Raymond High School.
