Candidate for State Representative
District: Grafton 4
My name is Lester Bradley and I am a native and lifelong resident of Thornton where my family has lived since 1867. I received my education at Thornton Elementary School, Lin-Wood High School and UNH, where I met my wife of 41 years, Sharon. We have 2 grown children and 4 grandchildren.
I am newly retired from the New Hampshire Electric Cooperative after 22 years, most recently as a Utility Forester. I am also a veteran, serving in the Marine Corps from 1970 to ’72 and in the NH Army National Guard from 1979 to ’92 with 5 of those years on active duty.
I am active in my church, Grange and American Legion and hold offices in each of those organizations. I am a musician and call traditional New England square dances. I participated in the Smithsonian Folklife Festival of 1999.
Politically, I am Pro Life, Pro Family, Pro Second Amendment. I am opposed to expanded gambling, especially casino gambling. Looking at New Jersey and Nevada, one should be able to figure out that gambling does not solve problems, it only creates more. I am opposed to burdensome regulations and it is my aim to reduce them wherever possible. I oppose the imposition of sales or income tax and increases in existing taxes. Spending must be brought under control.
