The New Hampshire House will soon vote on the state budget. As it currently stands, the budget will exceed $12 billion for the first time ever.

The cost of running state government will be about $9,000 for every man, woman, and child in NH. Is your family getting its money’s worth? Can you afford to pay your share?

Here are the numbers from the last budget and the proposed budget: [click for larger view]

Those numbers are millions of dollars. You are looking at increases of hundreds of millions of dollars – in total an increase of more than $800 million. The increase in this one budget is very nearly as much as the increase in BOTH of Maggie Hassan’s budgets combined.

We cannot let government grow at this rate. It’s bad for our economy for government to grow faster than the private sector; high spending leads to high taxes; larger government means less liberty.

“Low taxes are the result of low spending.” — Gov. Meldrim Thompson
“As government expands, liberty contracts.” — Ronald Reagan

We CAN stop this – we can reduce these increases. Not as much as many of us would like, but we can defeat this huge budget and get it replaced with a less huge budget.

Please phone your State Reps and tell them to vote down this budget and vote for smaller increases. You can find your Reps at http://gencourt.state.nh.us/house/members/wml.aspx
